Poem No. 777
Like a back road I need to meander in a mode of swift smothness where the bend and press of speed and centrifugal force run their shifting course and I may flow with the way paved toward a brighter day.
Quite verse libre, this one. The flowing, unstructured nature of the poem intended to imitate the flowing of a backcountry road. It still does have an AABBCC rhyme scheme, reminiscent of the regular road markers, or tying in one section to the next like seams in the concrete.
Well, that’s what I’d say if I took myself all too seriously. If I were to be honest, I’d confess this poem was written on my Notes app, already curled up and halfway asleep. It’s not really intended to look a certain way, or imitate certain things. It just is.
